The Houston International Speedway, later known as the Houston International Raceway and then Houston International Dragway, or the "Freeway Dragstrip", as well as other various names in its lifetime, was built in the mid-1950's and was considered one of the nation's premiere drag strips during its time as a member of the NHRA's Division 4.

Some of the legends to race there were "Bid Daddy" Don Garlits, Warren Johnson, Lee Shepard, Marvin Graham, Gary Beck, and a host of others.

The Track is gone. There is now a Walmart Supercenter where the starting line was, and a small neighborhood where the finish line was. The address for the walmart is: 1701 West Fm 646 Road League City, TX 77573. On the front left side of the building, where the "We Sell For Less" white letters hang, is directly above the starting line of the track.
